Women in Learning & Leadership Training III – Women University Swabi
The training was designed around conscious raising on women’s rights and gender-inclusive socio-economic development. Ms. Sofia Hussain and Dr. Sonia Irum delivered holistic training on Social Inclusion, Gender, Women Empowerment, and Critical Thinking.
Ms. Shawana Shah, shared her personal story to motivate the students to work for women’s rights. She shared that in college, she saw her cousins and friends barred from pursuing their studies. Those days there was little interest in girls’ education while early-age marriages were on the rise. These conditions pushed her into working for women’s rights.
Ms. Sidra Jalil, in her session, discussed with the students’ underlying principles of starting a business, avoiding common pitfalls, pitching ideas more effectively, validating the product, developing a solid business model, and setting yourself up for success in a field where failure is common. She worked with the students through hands-on examples to inculcate skills including problem-solving, teamwork, and empathy, as well as learning to accept failure as a part of the growth process.
The session was attended by 34 students and 3 faculty members.
