Idea Design Competition-Women University Multan
After the comprehensive training and capacity enhancement, Shaoor Foundation under its project Fostering Critical Thinking and Entrepreneurial Skills in Young Women for Gender Inclusive Socioeconomic Development (FCTEW) conducted an idea design competition for the females of Women University Multan.
An Idea Design Competition was organized by the Shaoor Foundation at the Women University Multan. The day began with Ms. Wardah Iftikhar, Project Manager at FCTEW, sharing the journey of the project and the foundation’s aim to empower women by starting their own entrepreneurial journey.
As students were from different academic backgrounds, a special session on the Art of Pitching was arranged to help them master their pitches. Mr. Waqar Tayyub, a skill and performance trainer, master trainer, life coach, and entrepreneur, guided the participants regarding their pitches. He shared tips and tricks for pitching, talked about body language, and used storytelling techniques to influence people’s minds. He further discussed the major components of business, including details of logistics, cost, marketing strategy, market analysis, problem statement, and product and service analysis. After the pitching training, the students actually reconsidered areas where they were lacking, which helped them be better prepared for the final pitches.
The beneficiaries were asked to design innovative ideas and projects that address thematic areas of the project such as critical thinking, economic empowerment and inclusion, women empowerment, combatting gender-based violence and strengthening women’s voices. It was a one day event for which 14 students and 3 teachers pitched their Ideas.
The seed grant winners in students’ category; namely Zibiah from True Essence, Muqadas from fine scarf, Farwa Nadeem from Wheels 19-23. Teachers category winners namely Ms. Iram Iqbal from Fresh and fit solutions for women, Dr. Deeba Shahwar from Mobile Kitchen, and Dr. Saima from WUM Green consultants. All the winning ideas were commendable and we hope them to flourish.
The competition was judged by Mr. Waqar Tayub, Ms. Sabohi Ali (Senior Program Manager SFEA), Ms Beenish Sarfaraz and Ms Maria Kanwal.
At the end of the competition, the judges raised the morale of the students, stating that all the ideas were amazing, and they should not be disheartened if their idea was not selected. The event concluded with the closing remarks of Ms. Wardah Iftikhar and the honorable judges.
