Idea Design Competition- Rawalpindi Women University

The Shaoor Foundation for Education and Awareness, as part of the Project Fostering Critical Thinking and Entrepreneurial Skills in Young Women for Gender Inclusive Socioeconomic Development (FCTEW), successfully organized a two-day Idea Design Competition at Rawalpindi Women University. The event aimed to support women-led businesses and promote women’s empowerment within society.

The competition kicked off with a session led by Dr. Baqir Hussain, who expressed gratitude for the efforts of the Shaoor Foundation. Ms. Warda Iftikhar, the project manager, provided an overview of the current status of the project and the Idea Design competition. She highlighted the crucial role of women empowerment and the difference independent women can make in society. The competition aimed to support small startups and their potential to add value to society.

Mr. Ibraheem Ahmad, HR and Business Consultant at the National Incubation Centre Islamabad, conducted pitch training and mock pitches, discussing successful global businesses and pitching techniques while highlighting common mistakes made by entrepreneurs.

During the second day, Ms. Sabohi Ali, Senior Program Manager at SFEA, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of financial independence for women. Nineteen ideas were pitched, with teachers presenting ideas such as Supermum Lunch Box and Digital Marketing, and students showcasing diverse ideas like Audio Library for Blind People and Eco-Friendly Products. A panel of judges Mr Ibraheem Ahmad( HR and Business Consultant at NIC), Ms Sabohi Ali( Senior Program Manager at SFEA), and Ms Lubna ( Professor at RWU) evaluated the pitches, and the competition concluded with remarks and appreciation from the judges and Dr. Baqir Hussain.

The event provided a platform for women entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and contribute to societal growth. Shields were presented to Mr. Ibraheem Ahmad and Ms. Sabohi Ali as tokens of appreciation. The competition concluded with a group photo session and a networking lunch, fostering further interactions and discussions.
