Swabi is one of those cities in Pakistan where male members of the family are out of city/country to earn money. And it is very difficult for women to go out alone to buy groceries, entertain their guests, and to pay their utility bills. To solve this issue, WILL training participants at Women University Swabi came up with an idea of launching an instant home delivery service to deliever food, medicine, grocery, vegetables, pet care, baby care, and women hygiene products. They hired bike riders to deliver the products. Initially, earning from delivery charges was adjusted in fuel. Therefore, “Waqt pay” service facilitated household women and satisfied their desired need.
Feminine hygiene products:
Women University Swabi has a large number of students living in hostels. Feminine hygiene products like menstrual pads and panties are majorly unavailable for students on campus. Bukhari Diagnostics
Swabi has a women population of 49.69% yet it remains a male-dominated district. In the light of the district’s cultural norms, health care facility remains largely unavailable for women. Women in Swabi struggle to get equal opportunities in health and education. Due to low socioeconomic condition and literacy rates, women face gender-based harassment. They are often beaten and threated to be divorced if touched by male doctors or healthcare workers. Women are not allowed to visit a doctor without male guardian. Realizing this, FCTEW Seed grant winner Nain Taara Bukhari at Women University Swabi who had worked as a senior researcher took the responsibility of catering the healthcare facility at women’s doorsteps. She launched a startup by the name of “Bukhari Diagnostics” that empowers women/female students through mentorships and also provides quality service of diagnosis at affordable price at the door steps of women. This venture equips students with technical skills to create the clusture of females who work for the improvement of productive health. Data about the prevalence of diseases is collected that helps physicians to prescribe antibiotics to timely manage preventable diseases and to reduce emergence of multidrug resistance.
Student entrepreneurship is encouraged which serves health needs of women and children in terms of quality service in diagnosis. Moreover, doctors and healthcare workers have been taken on-board to reduce the emergence of drug resistant strains due to blind therapy.
