Women in Learning & Leadership Training II – Women University Swabi
The second batch of Women in Learning and Leadership under Fostering Critical Thinking and Entrepreneurship Skills in Young Women was held in October 2021.
Ms. Sofia Hussain, Dr. Farhat Meher, and Dr. Sonia Irum delivered holistic training on Social Inclusion, Gender, Women Empowerment, and Critical Thinking. Ms. Ellen Snortland spoke to the participants about ‘Current challenges being faced by educated professional women in the United State in the current political and social climate’ followed by snippets from her film, ‘Beauty bites Beast’ for open discussion. The participants asked pertinent questions about the US feminist struggle and were able to develop a correlation with activists in Pakistan.
Ms. Rehma Riaz, Regional Business Coordinator SMEDA KP, trained the students on the basics of entrepreneurship, business planning, and business communication, thereby, encouraging the
students on enhancing their entrepreneurial skills and coming up with social enterprises. She highlighted various opportunities and economic empowerment platforms available for women. Entrepreneur Ms. Saima Amjad, Vice President of WCCIP (Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Peshawar) spoke to the students about her entrepreneurial journey and the role of WCCI in supporting fellow entrepreneurs.
Towards the end, in connection to International Education Week Mock Critical Thinking Circle was conducted on the theme of ‘Challenges in Girls’ Education’ that was moderated by Ms. Sofia Hussain, whereby, participants analyzed the reasons behind the lack of education opportunities and pursual for girls in Pakistan.
