Dr. Sonia Irum

Dr Sonia Irum works as a Lecturer in the Department of English, Female Campus, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), Pakistan. She has recently finished her doctorate from the Royal Holloway University of London, UK. Her PhD research is a thorough study of renowned novelist Uzma Aslam Khan's novels. Sonia's MS English thesis was a Marxist study of Uzma Aslam Khan’s selected works, i.e., Trespassing and The Geometry of God, from the perspective of commodification and consumerist ideology. She has presented papers at various national and international conferences, seminars and colloquiums. Her academic and creative work has also been published in national and international journals of interdisciplinary nature. She has organized many seminars, international conferences, and discussions centered on building useful bridges between students’ community and civil society. Her research interests include Ecocriticism, Consumerism, Creative Writing, Comparative Literature, Current Issues in Literary Theory, Cultural Studies, Literature and Ideology, Feminist Literary Studies, Task-based Language Learning and South Asian Fiction in English. She is also a member of ICLA Congress, International Comparative Literature Association (AILC, Association International De Literature Compare), CLAI (Comparative Literature Association of India) and ACLA (American Comparative Literature Association).
